Most Common Questions About Training & Coaching

We've answered the questions we hear most often—from parents wondering about how our programs work, to athletes curious what to expect in training. Can't find your answer here? Contact us anytime.

Getting Started:

What is a FREE Success Strategy Call?

This is your first step. We'll talk about your goals and needs, challenges, expectations and our standards. From there, we'll determine the best path for you, if you are a fit for our programs, if we offer what you need, and then we help you get started and taking the next steps in the right direction towards your goals and needs. If we offer what you need and you are a good fit for our training, you will have the opportunity to purchase one of our services, or get further plugged in to our system and the Finish First app where you can make a purchase and schedule your first session.

What happens after the call?

If it was determined that the next best step moving forward for you is to train with us, you'll attend your first scheduled training session and experience our coaching, ensuring we're a great fit for your needs. All semi-private training sessions can be scheduled through our Finish First Sports app (available for Android and Apple), and all personal training sessions are scheduled with one of our coaches.

What if the program doesn't fit our expectations or culture?

Our intake (strategy) call and trial sessions filter for alignment in attitude, drive, and coachability. If an athlete fails to engage or disrupts the small-group dynamic, we gladly offer prorated refunds and release them—no drama, no wasted months.

Do you test athletes before they begin training?

Instead of lengthy initial testing appointments, we learn your goals and history on a strategy call, then perform baseline movement assessments and physical testing within the first couple of small-group sessions. That allows us to build an individualized, evidence-based program without slowing your progress. However, if you would just like a full assessment and eval report, we offer that as a stand-alone service, and we can provide this. If interested, please speak with one of our coaches.

Training & Coaching:

Who coaches my athlete (or me)?

All coaches are professionally certified, including CSCS-certified individuals under the leadership of World-Champion strength coach and former three sport collegiate athlete Jeremy Hoy, MS, CSCS, PES, TPI1, MPM. That means every session is backed by evidence-based protocols, championship-level programming, and mentorship. Less coach turnover, no cookie-cutter routines.

What age groups do you train?

Our programs are designed for:

✅ Youth & High-School athletes (8–18)

✅ College & Pro prep athletes

✅ Adults and executives seeking functional athletic training

✅ Teams and clubs looking for seasonal or on-site programs

We customize programming based on training age AND chronology—so younger or inexperienced athletes enter the right building blocks progression.

Our semi-private training groups are: 11-13 year olds, 14+, and adults

What does the Peak Performance Pathway look like?

It's our proven 3-step success system for peak performance:

1. DETERMINE - clarify goals, commitment, and baseline training levels

2. DEVELOP - train using our structured, science-backed programs

3. DOMINATE - execute with 100% effort and focused mindset, repeat peak performance on the field, court, or ice

How many athletes are in each group?

Semi-private training sessions are capped at 6-12 athletes for hands-on coaching

Do you offer 1-on-1 training?

Yes, we offer fully customized 1-on-1 and semi-private personal training (4-6 clients max).

How long are training sessions and what's the format?

Sessions run about 60 minutes and are delivered in small, semi-private groups (max 6–12 athletes). That provides enough load and focus for results while ensuring every rep is closely coached and technically clean. The group will train together and the coach will make adjustments and customizations in the training session as needed to maximize the training effect and results for each client.

Finish First Sports Performance is a private training facility and open gym memberships or open training is not permitted. Every person training in the facility is part of a coached program. All clients must be scheduled and paid in full prior to training.

What should my athlete wear or bring?

Athletes should arrive in sport-ready, comfortable clothing, clean sneakers suitable for turf or weight work, and a water bottle. They should arrive a few minutes early with the right mindset—ready to work and give 100%. That’s it. We’ll provide all necessary training and testing equipment.

Do I or my athlete need to be "in shape" before starting?

Absolutely not. Everyone is welcome to give it a try—from first-time youth athletes to experienced competitors. Our coaches tailor training to the athlete’s current ability (training age and chronological age specific) and build strength, speed, and confidence.

Locations & Scheduling:

Where are your training facilities?

We currently train at the Resolute Athletic Complex (Easton, OH) and offer limited sessions at our training compound in Delaware, OH.

Do I need to pre-register for a session?

Yes. All sessions require pre-registration to guarantee your spot.

How do I schedule a session?

You can register and manage your schedule directly through the Finish First Sports app, or through the scheduling tab of this website. You will be able to log in through the app, or the site. For your convenience, we added a login tab on our navigation menu from our home page as well.

How do I log in to create an account and schedule?

The best way is to go to the Finish First Sports Performance home page, click on the Mindbody Login part of the 'Login' Navigation menu tab. This will take you to our main Mindbody linked account to create an account for yourself and/or your family/children. Once you have the accounts created, you can go the App store (Apple or Google) and search for the Finish First Sports app. Download the app for FREE and then use your Mindbody login information and log in to the app. Once in the app, you can set up links to create a family account if you would like to schedule for other people in your family, such as your children.

The next FAQ addresses how to set up a Family Account through the app so you can schedule others for sessions and personal training appointments, and manage their accounts.

How do I set up a Family Account and add family members using the Finish First Sports app?

On the Finish First Sports App, select the profile tab, then click ‘Edit’ in upper right corner. Under your email address click ‘Manage account info’.  You might be prompted to log in again, using the same email and password you just used for the app. Once logged in, scroll down that screen to “Family” and click + Add Member.

Put the name you want and then click add.  Click done, then save and it should take you back to the app. If not, go back in to the original app. You will need to sign out and then sign back in to refresh the app.

When you are back in, on the profile tab, you will see an arrow beside your name. You can click the arrow and it will give you the option to switch profile to schedule for a person you added. Another way to book is to go to the ‘Book’ tab, and it will show “Booking for” and you can select the person you are booking for.

We have found that it is most effective if you also create an account for each member of the family.

How can I reserve and manage sessions?

Our scheduling, progress tracking, and class reservations are handled via the Finish First Sports branded app, available for Free for Apple and Android, or through our website under the scheduling pages. You’ll easily view open classes, log performance metrics, and stay connected with your coach and the peak-performance roadmap.

Costs & Packages

How much does training cost?

Pricing depends on the package (3 month, annual) and whether you choose semi-private, 1-on-1, or team training. We'll walk through all options during your free success strategy call.

Do you offer packages or memberships?

Yes—we offer session-based packages and membership plans for both athletes and adults.

Is there a refund or guarantee?

We don't offer refunds, but we do provide the option of purchasing one trial session before committing to a longer term package.

What is a trial session?

After your initial strategy call, you will have the option of fully jumping in or just purchasing a 1 session trial. The 1 session trial allows you to get the full experience of training in one of our semi-private small groups, or with a coach in a personal training environment, to make sure it is the right fit for you, and that you are the right fit for our program.

Can I just drop in or get a few sessions?

No, we are a private sports performance and fitness training company committed to transforming lives and improving performance. 1 session doesn't show a commitment from you, nor does 3 or 4 sessions. Results come from discipline, dedication, and consistency in following the plan (process).

What if we want to train privately or with a team?

We offer three delivery models:

Semi-private training (small-group): Best for elite results, maximum coaching attention and interaction with other motivated athletes and individuals.

Private coaching: Reserved for very personalized needs at a higher price point.

Team/Club programs: Designed around your season schedule, either at the Resolute Athletic Complex or onsite at your own facility.

Results & Expectations

What kinds of improvements can we expect?

In an average 12-week block, Finish First athletes see:

~0.30 sec faster 40 yard dash

+2 inches in vertical jump

~37 % fewer soft-tissue injuries
We also track mindset and confidence improvements, ensuring gains are holistic and sport-specific.

How soon will I see improvements?

Most athletes notice significant measurable improvements in 6-8 weeks, including faster sprint times and acceleration, higher vertical jumps, improved strength and power, and better overall confidence. Results vary depending on training level and training frequency.

Can you prevent injuries?

No training can guarantee injury prevention, and anyone who claims this is a liar. However, our programs are designed to reduce the risk of common sports injuries by improving strength, mobility, and movements patterns, and by taking specific measures to address the most common injuries for your sport(s).

Will training help with confidence and mindset?

Yes. We integrate mental performance coaching into our training and also offer separate mindset programs for athletes who want to build confidence, focus, and resilience.

Policies & Support

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We require 12 hours' notice for cancellations. Late cancels or no-shows may result in a session being charged.
